Synopsis: Based on the comic strip by Michael Fry and T. Lewis. RJ (voiced by Bruce Willis) is a scheming raccoon who finds himself owing a bear a stash of junk food. He enlists the aid of some fellow animals to raid a new housing development which has encroached upon their woodlands, much to the consternation of the level-headed turtle Verne (voiced by Garry Shandling.)
Featured Feline: Prince Tigeriess Mahmood Shabaz (voiced by Omid Djalili) is a Persian cat who lives in the home of the animal’s main nemesis, the snooty Gladys (voiced by Allison Janney). Stella the skunk (voiced by Wanda Sykes) gives him the nickname Tiger which is how he is known throughout the film. We first see Tiger when RJ is introducing the animals to the wonder of human junk food. They have raided Gladys’ garbage cans when Tiger exits the house through his electronic cat door and spots them, hissing at them to leave. Gladys comes out moments later and screams, causing the animals to scurry.
Later RJ masterminds a plan to invade Gladys’ house to restock their supplies. He points out that Tiger has a collar with an electronic eye that unlocks his cat door. They give Stella a makeover to help her pass as a cat and she has the job of seducing Tiger, which works better than expected. Stella manages to get Tiger’s collar and then keeps him busy talking outside throughout the night.
When the animals are discovered in the morning by Gladys, Stella lets loose a stink blast which fills the home. She then learns that Tiger has no sense of smell, and he is still smitten with her! At the end of the film Tiger joins the animals in the woods when Gladys is arrested and he and Stella are reunited.
Final Mewsings: Cats may be snooty but they know a good thing when they see it!
