Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review’s Final Mewsing contains a spoiler for this film!

Synopsis: An expanded version of director Kieslowski’s Decalogue Five: Thou Shalt Not Kill is an unblinking look at the strange hypocrisy of capital punishment.

Cat Corpse (Kitty Carnage Warning!): During the opening credits a group of young boys are seen running away from a small cat which is hanging dead from a noose (we will spare you the screenshot).  We assume the filmmaker used an already dead or a fake cat since it is never seen alive.

Kitty Cameo: A few moments later taxi driver Waldemar Rekowski (Jan Tesarz) is talking to another man when he sees a ragged-looking tuxedo cat sitting nearby.  Waldemar comments, “I don’t like cats.  They’re as treacherous as people.”

Final Mewsings: A cat isn’t likely to strangle you and bash your head in.
