Fox Searchlight Pictures
Starring:
Thomas Mann, RJ Cyler, Nick Offerman
Directed by: Alfonso Gomez-Rejon

Synopsis: Greg (Thomas Mann) and his childhood friend Earl (RJ Cyler) have their movie-centric lives changed when they start to hang out with Rachel (Olivia Cooke), a girl diagnosed with leukemia.

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Greg’s father (Nick Offerman) is a lover of cats and apparently has several, although we really only see two.  The first and most notable is Cat Stevens, a pretty cat being held by Greg’s father as he and Greg’s mother enter Greg’s room.

Greg’s father holds up the cat to Greg, presumably to show him how distraught the cat is over the news about Rachel’s disease.

Greg’s mother encourages them to group hug, and Greg’s father brings Cat Stevens in with him.  Cat Stevens meows and then runs out of the group.

Kitty Cameo: Later a calico cat is seen sitting on a windowsill as Earl (played as a youngster by Edward DeBruce III) walks up to the house.  Earl asks the cat if it wants to fight.  This calico is seen later in a photograph in the house as well.

Final Mewsings: Cats aren’t really into group hugs.
