A moment later a man emerges from one of the buildings, dragging a garbage can to the curb.  The cat jumps down off the cans.  After the man leaves, a car pulls up to the cans.

Freebie and Bean empty one of the cans into the trunk and then take another can, closed, and put it in the back seat.  In the next scene they are sorting the loose garbage in the trunk.  Freebie lifts the closed can and pulls off the lid to dump that garbage into the trunk when the orange tom cat leaps out!
