Starring:
Christopher Plummer, Romy Schneider, Trevor Howard
Directed by: Terence Young

Synopsis: Somewhat based on the true story of former British bank robber-turned counter spy Eddie Chapman (Christopher Plummer) who offered his services to the Nazis during World War II and then in turn worked for British intelligence as well.

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Early in the film Chapman is seen trying to sneak from one part of the prison to the women’s side.  To do so he has to pass a room in which a guard is sitting.  The guard is talking aloud and Chapman is concerned, then he sees the man is speaking to a tiny kitten he has on his desk.

The guard is telling the kitten to get the ball and holding a small ball up in front of it.

Chapman is sneaking through the room behind the man’s back when the guard throws the ball over his shoulder and drops the kitten to the floor.  The kitten chases after the ball, playing with it.

The ball ends up rolling between Chapman’s feet and the kitten runs to him, stopping and swatting in confusion.  Chapman then kicks the ball across the room and the kitten takes chase.  The ball rolls under the desk of the guard and this distracts the man enough that Chapman can finally slip by.

Final Mewsings: Kittens can offer both amusement and distraction!
