The Human Comedy DVD

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM)
Starring:
 Mickey Rooney, Jack Jenkins
Directed by: Clarence Brown

Synopsis: The moving story of a small town touched by World War II.  Homer Macauley (Mickey Rooney) finds himself taking over as head of the household when his older brother Marcus (Van Johnson) is sent to fight.

Purr Blur: In one scene Homer’s little brother Ulysses (Jack Jenkins) is out late and becomes fascinated by a “mechanical” man in a drugstore window.  The actor playing the mechanical man sees Ulysses alone and scares him, sending Ulysses running and crying through the dark streets.  In one of these shots we see a silhouette of a cat in the foreground watching as Ulysses runs by.
