Synopsis: This cinematic telling of Hemingway’s novel follows Lt. Frederick Henry (Rock Hudson), an American working as an ambulance driver for the Italian army in World War I, who falls in love with Catherine Barkley (Jennifer Jones), a British woman working with the Red Cross.

Purr Blur: After being wounded, Frederick is sent to Milan where he ends up reconnecting with Catherine.  When they find out Frederick is to be sent back into service, he and Catherine leave the hospital and walk through the streets of Milan.  Two tiny cats are sitting in the road and scurry out of the way of a passing carriage (the cat’s meows are dubbed in).
