Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: June (Susan Hayward) is a dance hall girl who reluctantly agrees to help an about-to-be-shipped sailor named Alex (Bill Williams) out of a seemingly innocent jam, but when the trouble turns to murder they find themselves tracking down the truth.

Implied Cat Corpse: At one point in the film Alex is in front of a pet store when a man runs up and bangs on the door frantically.  Apparently his cat has choked on a chicken bone and he has the cat in a tool chest.  The man opens the case and realizes he’s too late and then walks away, heartbroken.  The cat is barely seen, though.

Kitty Cameo: June and Alex find a cab driver who knows where the woman they suspect has gone.  He drives June to the street and she gets out.  It is a hot and humid night in New York and an older couple is sitting on the stoop of one building.  The woman is holding a large tabby cat on her lap.

The couple direct June to the right building, as the man explains he is the super for four buildings on the street and he doesn’t get paid nearly enough.  Both the couple and the cat look very grouchy.

Final Mewsings: Grumpy people own grumpy cats.
