Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: Peyton Westlake (Liam Neeson) is a scientist doing research on synthetic skin cells when he becomes the victim of a vicious attack inadvertently brought on by his attorney girlfriend Julie Hastings (Frances McDormand) who intercepted an incrimminating paper the criminals wanted.  Peyton becomes an outcast and sets out to seek revenge on those who disfigured him.

Kitty Cameo: After Peyton is disfigured and breaks out of the hospital he goes into seclusion in an abandoned factory where he can work on his skin research again.  When he first enters the building he tries to pet a stray Russian Blue cat, which swipes and hisses at him.

The cat is seen several times during the film such as when Peyton is working on a computer model for a new hand and the cat is eating from a bowl of food on the desk.

The cat is often heard in the background meowing, echoing in the abandoned factory, and is sometimes given a shot of its own.

Later Peyton gets upset and starts going crazy, which causes the cat to hiss again.

Still the cat stays around and is last heard meowing when the bad guys come after Peyton once again.

Updated! Cinema Cats Facebook follower T.j. pointed out that this was likely the same cat who played Church in the film Pet Sematary.  The head animal trainer on both films was Brian McMillan.  Thanks for connecting these for us, T.j.!

Final Mewsings: Even a cat that doesn’t like you can be a loyal companion.
