Synopsis: Timid office worker Henry Burrows (Johnny Downs) has his life turned upside down when a red-haired woman named Joan (Wanda McKay) enters his house without his knowledge.  She appears to be hiding out from the police but Henry falls in love with her anyway.

Kitty Cameo: When Henry comes home from work near the beginning of the film he sits down in his chair in the living room.  A black and white cat appears and jumps into his lap.

Henry addresses the cat as Pansy and deduces that she wants to be let outside.

Henry sets Pansy outside and then leaves the door open a crack so she can come back inside.  This is how Joan is able to enter his house.

Henry calls Pansy back inside and when he walks into the living room she is sitting on his chair.  Henry scolds her, saying the maid Bluebell would not like having to clean cat hairs off the chair.  Henry picks up Pansy and sets her on his lap before the doorbell rings again. Henry gets up again and sets Pansy down on the floor.  Pansy is not seen in the film again after this.

This film is a remake of Wide Open which included a cat named Adolphus.

Final Mewsings: Cats shouldn’t just be used as convenient plot devices and then discarded.
