Synopsis: Mrs. Brandon (Dame May Whitty) is a cranky, elderly and infirmed woman who gives her niece Olivia (Rosalind Russell) a rough time.  But when she hires a charming but mysterious handyman named Danny (Robert Montgomery), Olivia begins to suspect the man may have sinister motives.

Featured Feline: Throughout the film a long-haired black cat makes several appearances.  The cat belongs to Mrs. Brandon and can often be seen sitting somewhere in her living room while conversation is going on.  Danny interacts with the cat on several occasions.  In one of his first appearances the cat circles his legs and then reaches up begging to be petted.

Danny finally picks up the cat and roughly throws it aside.  But when Mrs. Brandon returns to the room he makes a show of picking up the cat and treating it nicely, showing how he is putting on an act for the old woman.  He continues to be nice to the cat around Mrs. Brandon for the rest of the film.

Final Mewsings: Unfortunately not all cats are the best at judging character.
