Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: A small pig named Babe (voiced by Christine Cavanaugh) struggles to find his place in the world when he finds himself under the care of a loving sheepdog named Fly (voiced by Miriam Margolyes) and realizes he has a knack for sheep herding, much to the surprise of Farmer Hoggett (James Cromwell).

Bad Kitty: Duchess (voiced by Russi Taylor) is a grey Persian cat which is the spoiled pet of Farmer Hoggett’s wife, Esme (Magda Szubanski).

Babe - Duchess cat with Mrs. Hoggett

Only Duchess and the dogs are allowed inside the farmhouse, that is until Farmer Hoggett’s wife goes on a trip and the Farmer allows Babe to enter the domicile.  Duchess resents this and strikes out at Babe, scratching the poor pig’s nose.  Farmer Hoggett immediately dumps Duchess outside in the rain, which causes the cat to brood.

Babe - Duchess cat hisses

Later the cat cruelly breaks it to Babe that pigs are meant for eating and nothing more, causing Babe to run away.  The filmmakers made sure to clarify that Duchess just happens to be a particular bad cat and that most cats are nice.  Still, it’s a bit disappointing that the sole cat in this film happens to be the villain.

Final Mewsings: Hell hath no fury like a cat scorned, especially by a pig.
