Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: James Bond (Sean Connery) is assigned to track down some international diamond thieves, bringing him into the acquaintance of the beautiful Tiffany Case (Jill St. John) who is his courier contact.  The diamonds are smuggled from Africa to Amsterdam to Las Vegas where Bond encounters an old nemesis he thought to be dead.

Cinema Cat: As the movie begins, Bond confronts Blofeld (this time played by Charles Gray) and quickly dispatches him while the man is having some kind of procedure done.  Upon his death, Bond sees Blofeld’s white Turkish Angora cat, which yowls its displeasure while looking stunning in a diamond collar.  This segues right into the opening credits where the cat is at last included!

Thinking Blofeld to be deceased, Bond goes about his mission.  But he’s in for a surprise when he reaches the penthouse of the Whyte Hotel in Las Vegas to find that Blofeld is not only not dead, but has a doppleganger!  And surprise, surprise, his cat does, too!  The cat is featured quite prominently in these scenes.

Kitty Carnage Warning! At one point Bond goes on the offensive to eliminate at least one of the two Blofelds.  Unfortunately he does this by kicking the cat across the couch onto the one man’s lap and then shooting him (the man, not the cat, thank goodness.)  And, needless to say, Blofeld once again escapes without the cat when his oil rig hideout goes up in flames.  Either Blofeld’s cat has nine lives or Blofeld has an endless supply of cats.

Final Mewsings: James Bond movie credits . . . fantastic!  James Bond movie credits with a cat . . . even better!
