Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: A cat being used as an experimental lab animal escapes and eventually ends up on board a luxury yacht with a group of college kids on spring break, some ruthless criminals trying to reach the Cayman Islands and a young female captain.  Unfortunately the cat isn’t alone . . . and the creature living inside it is lethal!

Cinema Cat: What’s not to like about this movie?  The beautiful long-haired cat star steals the show in every scene.  From her initial escape from the mysterious (and never explained) science lab to her spooky appearances foreshadowed by a few sinister piano notes on the ship, she’s a beauty.

Uninvited cat

The film is full of terrific unintentional humor, not the least of which is the cat puppet used in place of the cat every time the miniature mutant cat thing pops out (and why, we wonder, does the cat have another cat living inside of it?  Why not just have the cat itself mutate if it is full of radioactive poison, as the student biologist on board deduces?)

Uninvited cat monster

This also has to be one of the most overdubbed cats in movie history . . . there is almost no time the cat is on screen that there aren’t continuous mews, meows and snarls dubbed in, even when the cat’s mouth isn’t moving (or maybe it’s supposed to be the mutant cat inside the cat which is making all of these noises?)

Kitty Cameo: At the end of the film the mutant cat creature has supposedly washed up on a beach, but all we see is a black cat nearby. A little boy comes and picks up the cat to presumably take him home . . . where the horror will undoubtedly continue.

Uninvited cat end

Final Mewsings: There’s nothing scarier than a cat puppet with a miniature mutant cat puppet inside.
