Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: The year is 2027 and the world is in chaos.  The last baby born was 18 years before when the whole of mankind mysteriously became infertile.  The U.K. is desperately clinginging to its last shreds of civilisation, which includes interring any and all immigrants seeking asylum.  Theo Faron (Clive Owen) is pulled into the midst of a clandestine mission by his former wife Julian (Julianne Moore) and finds himself guarding a young woman named Kee (Clare-Hope Ashitey) who may hold the key to the possible salvation of mankind.

Kitty Cameos: With civilisation in a shambles, people seem to cling tightly to their pets, who appear to be unaffected by the infertility plaguing mankind.  In an early scene Theo visits his friend Jasper (Michael Caine) who has both a dog and a cat.  The orange tabby is seen sitting on the chair with Theo.

Animals seem to gravitate towards Theo, as seen in another moment when they take refuge in a radical group’s hideout.  A tiny tabby kitten climbs up Theo’s leg.

Still later when they have managed to enter the Bexhill Refugee Camp they find a Russian couple who helps them.  Theo is sitting on the windowsill with a long-haired Himalayan cat in that scene.

Final Mewsings: A world without babies may be bad but a world without kittens would be catastrophic.
