Starring:
 Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Wuhl
Directed by: Ron Shelton

Synopsis: Baseball record holder Ty Cobb (Tommy Lee Jones) hires sportswriter Al Stump (Robert Wuhl) to write his autobiography, but Stump is torn between telling the story Cobb relates to him or the truth about the legend’s outrageous personality.

Kitty Cameo: In one scene Cobb is recounting his experiences with various U.S. Presidents over the years. He comments on how Woodrow Wilson has the best scotch and how Woodrow Wilson has the best broads and parties. He then states that ” . . . Calvin Coolidge and that stupid cat of his weren’t any damn fun at all.” This is accompanied by a shot of Cobb posing for a photo with Coolidge who is holding a long-haired cat in his arms.

Calvin Coolidge was noted for owning cats among many other pets, including the most famous one, a tabby named Tiger. It’s strange the filmmakers didn’t use a tabby cat for the short clip here.

Final Mewsings: Cats can be fun if they have the right owner.
