Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains spoilers for this episode!

Synopsis: After Jimmy Olsen (Jack Larson) calls on Superman (George Reeves) to help save a kitten that has been locked in a safe, the kitten’s owner is so grateful she gives the cub reporter one million dollars.

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): The episode begins with Jimmy arriving at the home of an elderly woman named Mrs. Peabody (Elizabeth Patterson). She is holding a tabby kitten named Topsy.

Cat Cattle Call:  Mrs. Peabody is a rich woman who has been rescuing cats for years. She motions to a group of cats gathered around a dish of milk and introduces them as Flopsy, Mopsy, Popsy, Twinkles, Tinkles, Wrinkles and Sam.

Mrs. Peabody continues to hold Topsy as she explains to Jimmy how she started rescuing alley cats. “An alley is no place for a cat!” she states.

Jimmy asks how many cats Mrs. Peabody has owned and she takes him to a large open safe where she has a complete list. He worries about her leaving her safe open and she explains she would never remember the combination. Topsy the kitten is seen climbing inside the safe.

Jimmy accidentally steps on the tail of a black cat and falls against the safe door (in reality the actor barely steps on the cat). They realize the kitten Topsy has been closed inside when her mother starts to worry at the safe door.

Mrs. Peabody hurries to try to find the combination as Jimmy decides to call Clark Kent to ask if there would be any way he could summon Superman. As Jimmy waits, he assures Topsy’s mother that everything will be okay.

Superman arrives and pulls the door off the safe, saving the kitten.

Superman leaves before Mrs. Peabody returns and although Jimmy tries to tell her that he didn’t save the cat she offers to give him one million dollars.

Final Mewsings: Just think how many more cats Mrs. Peabody could have saved with that million dollars!
