Synopsis: A bitingly dark comedy from Belgium about two neighbors (Benoît Delépine & Gustave de Kervern) from a farming community outside Paris whose anger for one another leads to a mutual accident that ultimately bonds them in a most unusual way. Kind of a sick road movie painted with an artistic pencil and not to be missed if you take your comedy black!
Kitty Cameos: At the beginning of the film we meet L’employé (played by Benoît Delépine . . . incidentally, none of the characters in the film are known by their names) and L’épouse (his wife, played by Isabelle Delépine.) It is clear from the beginning that his wife is a cat lover, since she sports a gaudy cat t-shirt. Indeed she has at least three cats which are all seen in one scene outside as she pets one and the others stand nearby, apparently tethered to a tree in their yard.
Final Mewsings: When your wife ties cats to a tree with string, it’s time to get a new wife.
