Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis:  Officers Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) and Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) track down a ruthless former LAPD officer just days before Murtaugh is due to retire.

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): In the opening segment of the film, Murtaugh and Riggs arrive at a building which reportedly has a bomb inside. Instead of waiting for the bomb squard, Riggs decides to check it out for himself and Murtaugh follows. Riggs attempts to deactivate the bomb which is in a car in the parking garage. As the two are on opposite sides of the car there is a loud thump above them. They jump up to find a cat has somehow jumped onto the roof of the car. “Just me, you and this cat are dumb enough to be down here,” Murtaugh complains.

When Murtaugh finally cuts a wire it makes the timer go faster. “Grab the cat,” Riggs suggests. The two men run from the building as it explodes. Murtaugh is carrying what is obviously a fake cat under his arm.

Ducking down behind a car, the pair are stunned as the building collapses behind them.

Eventually they stand to face their fellow officers, who look at them critically. Murtaugh holds up the cat and the officers mockingly applaud.

The cat actor could very well be one of the Pearl team of cats who appeared in many films around this time.

Final Mewsings: Do cats usually jump on the roofs of cars in parking garages?
