Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: In this “found footage” film, David (Adrian Pasdar) and Clare (Cady McClain) move to a country home in upstate New York to create a more pastoral life with their twins, but the children’s behavior only becomes more erratic and dangerous.

Kitty Cameo: At the beginning of the film the couple is seen dressed for Halloween and celebrating the twins’ birthday. The children, Jack (Austin Williams) and Emily (Amber Joy Williams) are sitting at a table wearing masks as Clare, who’s dressed as the Bride of Frankenstein, carries out a cake to them. An unnamed tuxedo cat is then seen being held by Clare as the kids blow out their candles.

The cat is seen in extreme close up another time by the video camera.

Kitty Carnage Warning:  At Christmas, the kids are opening presents and David ends up running upstairs with the camera still running. As he turns a corner, the tuxedo cat can be seen dead, attached to a cross a la crucifiction. In a screen grab it is clear a fake cat was used for this shot. What appears to be another dead cat (or the same one, it’s not clear) also shows up near the end of the film.

Final Mewsings: Cats prefer not to be crucified at Christmas.
