Starring:
 Penny Singleton, Arthur Lake
Directed by: Frank R. Strayer

Synopsis: Blondie (Penny Singleton) longs for a maid and gets her wish when Dagwood’s (Arthur Lake) boss sets them up in a mansion that is supposedly haunted.

Purr Blur: At the beginning of the Blondie films Daisy the dog runs down the front path to fetch the newspaper. This time a black cat appears out of nowhere and runs across Daisy’s path, bringing her to a screeching stop. She then refuses to get the paper and slinks back into the house.

It’s interesting to note the way they edited this scene shows that the cat and Daisy were filmed separately with the camera placed from Daisy’s point of view as the cat crosses. Chances are the two animals were nowhere near each other during filming.

Final Mewsings: Dogs shouldn’t be afraid of black cats that aren’t really there.
