Synopsis: Leona Stevenson (Barbara Stanwyck) is a clinging wife who is confined to bed and overhears two men talking on a party line about a murder they are going to commit.

Kitty Cameo: Early in the film Leona is trying to reach her husband Henry (Burt Lancaster) who is late coming home. She calls his secretary Ms. Jennings (Dorothy Neumann) at her home to ask if she knows where he is. When Ms. Jennings enters her apartment to take the call, a long-haired black cat is sitting on the bed.
