Synopsis: L.B. Jefferies (James Stewart) is a news photographer who, while laid up with a broken leg, takes an interest in the coming and goings of his neighbors, especially when one appears to have committed murder.

Purr Blurs: At the beginning of the film a brown tabby cat is seen running through the courtyard of the apartment complex.

One of the neighbors is a woman sculptor (Jesslyn Fax) who lives on a bottom apartment with her ginger tabby cat, who is seen sitting in a chair in several scenes, including the opening shot.

A man delivering ice stops to ask the woman what she is sculpting. The cat meows at the man.

The cat is still on the chair when Jefferies’ detective friend (Wendell Corey) is seen on the street outside the apartments.

Finally the cat is seen one last time on the same chair while the woman is sprawled asleep on a nearby lawn chair at the end of the movie.
