Synopsis: Navajo Officer Jim Chee (Lou Diamond Phillips) is a rookie patroling a reservation when a mutilated body is discovered.

Kitty Cameo: Jim owns a tabby cat which is seen twice in the film. First Jim comes home and opens a can of cat food, scooping it into a bowl (and licking his fingers) then setting it down on the floor of his mobile home in front of a cat door. He clicks the can opener a few times but the cat is slow in coming. The unnamed tabby cat finally appears through the door and starts eating the food.

Later Jim is lying on his bed with the cat as he tries to work through the mystery of several strange events.

He even asks the cat for its opinion at one point. In the next scene two men break into the home and rough up Officer Chee then trash the place. The cat can be heard screeching during this scene but no violence towards the cat is actually seen.
