Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: Two down-and-out actors named Withnail (Richard E. Grant) and Marwood (Paul McGann) seek respite from their drug-hazed lives in the country.

Kitty Cameo: When the boys go to see Withnail’s uncle Monty (Richard Griffiths), the man greets them at the door holding a long-haired gray cat.

The cat is only seen fleetingly in the scene at Monty’s house, first being chased into the living room by Monty who is screaming at the cat, referring to him as “an ungrateful little swine.”

Later the cat jumps up on the back of the couch while Monty is talking to Marwood. Monty has a fit, chasing the cat away and screaming about how “It’s trying to get itself in with you!” and calling it a rugby ball and saying, “It will die! It will die!” and complaining the cat has ruined his day.
