Synopsis: Robert Gregory (Tony Martin) is an aspiring actor / singer who faces deportation just as he’s on the brink of finding success on the stage.  Right after a breakout performance he rushes to catch a boat to comply with the immigration authorities but is waylayed by a taxi accident which brings him into acquaintance with Patricia O’Malley (Rita Hayworth).  Both miss the boat and Patricia misses her wedding with wealthy newspaper mogul Charles Gardner (Alan Mowbray).  The pair fall in love despite the unexpected complications in their lives brought on by their having missed the boat.

Kitty Cameo: When we see Charles Gardner in his mansion lamenting being supposedly jilted by Patricia, his valet, Griggs (played with great aplomb by Eric Blore) is in the kitchen pouring milk into a saucer for a long-haired cat he calls Cassanova.  Later in the film, Griggs hears something break in the kitchen and runs in to find a bottle of broken milk.  He scolds Cassanova, who we are to believe is just off screen, but the cat isn’t seen then or at any other time in the movie.
