Synopsis: Oxford professor Stephen (Dirk Bogarde) is attracted to one of his pupils named Anna (Jacqueline Sassard) but a complicated series of relationships and a horrific accident interfere.

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Two different cats appear very briefly in the film. The first is a black cat who can be seen on the tennis court while Stephen, Anna, a fellow Professor named Charley (Stanley Baker) and young student William (Michael York) are playing.

The cat is playing with the net and jumps at it when the ball hits nearby.

Kitty Cameo:  The other cat is a long-haired tuxedo cat being held by a boy, presumably the son of Laura (Ann Firbank) whom Stephen visits in one scene.

Final Mewsings: Maybe the cat wanted to referee?
