Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Businessman Thomas Reilly (Robert Downey Jr.) is surprised when his four childhood guardian angels suddenly come back into his life needing his help.
Cat Cattle Call: In the beginning of the film we are introduced to the people who will become the ghosts who are connected to Thomas’ life. One of them is Penny Washington (Alfre Woodard), who is seen outside her home with her children as she calls for her youngest son Billy (Javar David Levingston). Their neighbor, Agnes Miller (Janet MacLachlan) has numerous cats which are seen as Billy steps over them.
Agnes then sets down some food for them.
Billy approaches his mother carrying one of her cats.
Penny directs Billy to go inside and then talks to Agnes, who has taken the cat from Billy. “You know you’re spoiling my kids rotten. And them cats.” “Oh shush about my cats!” Agnes says playfully as she heads back into her home.
Later in the film Thomas and the others are trying to help Penny find her children. They return to Penny’s former home but don’t see anyone they know. Then several cats appear and run down the sidewalk.
The cats duck into a hole in the fence and Penny watches them as they run up a wooden stairway to an upstairs apartment.
Sure enough they find Agnes, who is holding a cat as they talk to her (this cat’s ears are all you can see).
Final Mewsings: Cats can be helpful at giving directions.
