Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: Samuel Faulkner (Hugh Grant) has trouble adjusting when he finds out his long-time girlfriend Rebecca (Julianne Moore) is pregnant, and his hesitancy to embrace fatherhood ultimately threatens their relationship.

Featured Feline: Samuel owns an older long-haired yellow cat named Skippy.  In an early scene of the film there is a possible sighting of Skippy sleeping on a cushion across from Samuel and Rebecca, although in the long shots there is only a pillow there.

While Skippy is hardly seen in the film he is a point of contention between the couple, since the doctor recommends they get rid of the cat before having the baby.  Samuel explains that he has had Skippy for 16 years and that the cat can hardly be considered a threat, but Rebecca is adamant that Skippy should go.  After the couple break up, Samuel’s friend Sean (Jeff Goldblum) throws a party to get Samuel into the single life once more.  During the party Samuel is sitting off to one side with Skippy in his lap.

A woman named Lili (Mia Cottet) spots Samuel from across the room and goes to him.  She asks him to dance and he declines but she insists.  She then picks up Skippy and tosses him aside.  Skippy is not seen after this and we have to assume they did get rid of Skippy after all.

Final Mewsings: Cats should not be tossed aside literally or figuratively.
