Zooey Deschanel, Ed Harris, Will Ferrell
Directed by: Adam Rapp

Synopsis: Struggling actress Reese Holden (Zooey Deschanel) travels home to Michigan to try to obtain a series of love letters written between her famous author parents, only to find things very much changed since she has last been there.

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Reese has rescued a little female ginger tabby kitten she has named Spike.  The kitten is first seen on Reese’s bed shortly after a lover has left her apartment.  Reese hurts herself as the kitten frolics on the bed behind her.

Kitty Carnage Warning! Sadly Reese finds out from the veterinarian that the kitten has feline leukemia.  The vet leaves a message on her machine asking her to come in to discuss options.  Unfortunately Reese takes the kitten to the river via a taxi, places her in a duffel bag and throws her in.  There is a cut in the scene before the bag is dropped into the river where the kitten actor was presumably taken out of the bag.

The American Humane Society was not informed about the scene and did not monitor that segment, although the kitten actor was reportedly saved from an animal shelter and adopted by the producer’s brother.

Final Mewsings: Sometimes euthanasia is necessary but never, ever like this.
